-Tobacco is an extremely difficult crop to grow because planting must be very precise. The crop is extremely susceptible to pests and must be constantly weeded and tended. Harvesting is slow and backbreaking, and once harvested, the tobacco must be dried over a carefully watched slow fire that generates both smoke and heat.
