Directions: Follow the steps below to navigate through the course web page.  Locate the answers to the questions within the site and write the correct answers on the lines provided.

Step #1: Logging on! 

 


                                            

 

1.  Open Microsoft Explorer on your desk top.

2.  Go to the follow address to locate the class website:

Step #2: The Homepage! 

 

 

 


1.  Scroll down and become familiar with the homepage.  Become familiar with the

     features on this page.

 

*Questions:

 

A.  At the top of the page below the banner you will usually notice a links under the

     scrolling ticker (which also has helpful information) to important classroom

     resources.

     What link is currently residing here? _______________

 

B.  In the center of the page you will notice a large calendar.  The calendar lists the

     topics we will be discussing each day in class.  You can use this calendar to

     prepare for class each day or use it to find out what you missed when you were

     absent.  Look at the calendar, what topic will we be discussing in class on August

 

     31st? _______________

 

C.  On the right hand side of the page you will notice a space dedicated to listing

     upcoming assignments.

D.  If you were absent or missed class for some reason, you could use this area of

 

     the homepage to? _______________

 

E.  The far left hand side of the main page contains a _______________ with links

     to other parts of the site.

 

Step #3: Using the Menu! 

 

 


1.  Use the menu on the far left hand side of the screen to explore the rest of the

     site and answer the questions below.

 

*Questions:

 

A.  Click on the menu option “Handouts”.  This link should take you to a page which

     contains electronic versions of most in class handouts.  If you lose a handout in

     class, you can use this page to print out another copy.

B.  Now go to the menu option “Assignments”.  This page will list all the course

     assignments to date.  You can always find out what is due by using this page.  If

     you are absent, you can use this page to find out what you missed.

C.  Go to the menu option “Class Notes”.  Here you will find notes for each of the major topics

     discussed in class.  You can get notes that you missed in class if you were absent.  Now

     find the button that says “Understanding History”.  This is our first major topic of the year.  

     Use the notes on this page to answer the following questions:

D.  One of the most valuable aspects of this webpage is the ability to contact Mr. Gigliotti. 

     Click on the “E-Mail Gigliotti” link within the menu.  Send Mr. Gigliotti a short friendly

     email.

 

 

E.  Now go to the menu option “Hot Topic”.  No, this is not where you buy your dog collars for

     the big dance.  Throughout the year we often work on activities which are based on-line.

F.  The “Student Showcase” link will take you to a page where pictures of high quality  

     students can be displayed.  Go to this page now.  Throughout the year, what will be listed

     newspapers and news agencies from across the country and around the world.  List one
