What does the Shiloh Guidance Department Provide for Students?

Individual Counseling:  We are here to address the everyday needs of our students.  Students may fill out a “BLUE SLIP”, located in the office, to make an appointment to see us.  As a parent, you may wish to contact us to share information with us to better help your child through the middle school years.

Group Counseling: We know that peer support is critical to the adolescent, and we feel it is essential to bring together students who have been through or are struggling with the same types of experiences to talk together and offer support of one-another. We offer our groups on an as-needed basis on the following topics: Grief, Divorce, Anger, and Social Skills.

Classroom Guidance: The “LIFE SKILLS” program will be an integrated part of your child’s academic day.  They will receive lessons on the following topics each month: Drug/Alcohol, Smoking, Violence, Media Influences, Anxiety, Anger, Communication Skills, Social Skills, Assertiveness, Resolving Conflicts, and Resisting Peer Pressure.

School-Wide Programs: We bring in different speakers and programs by grade level and for the entire school.  Some of the programs that are presented are:

·         Stop Bullying in our School

·         Positive Choices

·         Drug/Alcohol Choices

·         Evening Parent/Teen Program
